Did last year’s New Years party disappoint you? Perhaps it left you feeling like this:

sad faced baby

And perhaps a very frigid winter has left you feeling, say, like this?

really cold person

If memories of last year’s New Year’s events send chills down your spine and leave you clamoring for warmth, perhaps a trip to Cancun for New Year’s Eve 2009 will prove a remedy to your predicament. How about a week of balmy beaches, cocktails, great companions, and some famous DJ’s? Because that’s how we do it at ME Cancun every New Year’s Eve.

And now a pleasant visual to titillate your senses:

ME-Cancun, ME-Cancun-Flowers-Art-Music-Exposition

In little under a month, we at ME Cancun will be introducing an exciting new element to the hotel, one that will last throughout the month of December. We are pleased to announce ME Cancun’s Exposition of Flower, Art, Design, and Music, an internal exhibition presenting a visually and aurally stimulating array of flower art, sculptures, DJ’s, and more.

The Exposition will feature artwork by the famed Horacio Cardenas, a premier Mexican artist and current Cancun resident; the haute couture of designer Ericka Flores; and the beautiful flower art of Alejandra Margain.

Exposition guests will enjoy an ongoing program throughout the month of December, which begins on December 10 and concludes on December 25. The itinerary of this exciting, cultural event appears as follows:

Opening Exposition, December 10, 7pm – 11pm

Guests participate in the Exposition’s opening ceremony, toasting its induction with a welcome drink. Spectators will walk through the exposition, exploring a bevy of artists’ works. The opening ceremony wraps up with a cocktail, canapés and DJ music at the hall bar of the Silk and Salt Restaurant.

December 13-18, 7pm-10pm

The Exposition will be open daily during this time, accompanied by the edgy beats of several prominent DJ’s.

Closing Ceremony, December 19

ME Cancun closes its exposition on the deck of the Rose Bar. The evening features artwork and a high couture fashion show (on a fabulous catwalk) courtesy of Ericka Flores.

We at ME Cancun are excited to imbue our beautiful hotel with the inspiring sounds, presentations, fashion, and artwork of both Mexican and international visionaries. We hope to see you at the Exposition!

The Cancun nightlife is known for its diversity and extravagance. While clubs and bars seem to dominate the scene, resort hotels have begun opening their own facilities as well, often hosting extravagant parties and attracting a number of celebrities on any given night. As the day turns to evening, Cancun evolves into a wildly versatile hub, offering a venue for everyone.

Though Cancun’s nightlife may in fact be for everyone (it’s bevy of bars, clubs, and lounges satisfy a very diverse set of needs), the clubs and entertainment in this blog are definitely not. Generally attracting a younger crowd (18-32), they provide an atmosphere that can only be described as  hypnotic.

The City – The City is the largest club in Cancun. Described as a “mega-entertainment complex”, The City is a wave pool leading to a multi-level club that features suspended entertainers and an enormous video and sound system. Every year The City sees a packed lineup of celebrity parties; one of the most memorable being 50 Cent’s for Spring Break 2005.

The CityThe City

CoCo Bongo – Though CoCo Bongo can’t claim to be the largest club, it most certainly comes close; it is considered by many as the hot spot of Cancun. CoCo Bongo is a nightclub of great magnitude and allure; in fact, it teams the widest variety of entertainment, décor, and activities into one bowl-shaped arena. A hanging stage, flying acrobats, on-bar conga lines, video screens that drop from the ceiling, foam and bubble parties, tequila—it’s what separates CoCo Bongo from the other clubs and sets it a tier higher than the rest.

Cancun Nightlife

Maxim Beach Club – Hosts Cancun’s largest beach parties with DJs spinning global house and dance music, fire dancers, ME girls, and a different performance every night. As its name implies, Maxim Beach Club is hosted on the white shores of Cancun, at ME Cancun resort and is open to the public.

Bulldog Café – Features Cancun’s greatest laser light show and live music. Although the club holds 2000, don’t be surprised if you see Bulldog bikini-clad girls in the mix. The Café has played host to many shows in the past including Radiohead, Naughty by Nature, and Shakira and conveniently sectioned into multiple areas, offering multiple atmospheres, and features a VIP room with Jacuzzi.

Pat O’Brien’s – O’Brien’s is not as crowded and overwhelming as its counterparts. It mirrors more of a bar atmosphere and is a great place to begin or end your night. Whatever you end up drinking at Pat’s, be sure to save room for their house Hurricanes.

The clubs and bars of Cancun run the gamut of head-imploding excitement to cool casual and relaxing. The aforementioned tend to tip the scale in favor of unbelievable nights and hazy morning that will have you deciphering your own Polaroid.
